Son Of Africa Telling The African StoryGye Yahmeh (Nyameh)
Who said Africa did not know God?
*Here is a symbol in the Akan tradition that sums up the concept of the Omnipotence and the Creatorship of God in our Culture:
"GYE YAHMEH" meaning EXCEPT GOD! Let me tell you the concept behind it; This great panorama of creation dates back to time immemorial. No one lived who saw its beginning and no one lives who knows its end Except God - GYE YAHMEH!
Our fathers knew the True God of Creation, and their theology was GYE YAHMEH.” Except God had made us, we could not have sprung up by ourselves. They certainly did not believe that they were decedents of worms or monkeys or Chimpanzees. They believed they were Children of the King, Africa knew God!
Here is J. B. Danquah: “The Creator who made Nana Akane is often called Tete Kwaframoa, that is to say, one who is living from a time eternal, and is the root and cause of all the ancients. The most comprehensive name of Tete Kwaframoa (the Eternal) is Odomankoma. His other name is Onyame, and it is the same who is called the Great Supreme Being of Saturday (Onyankopon Kwame), who is styled Twiaduampon by the Akan people. He is the ancestor of all the ancestors, the eternally ancient Being of all the ancient people, Nana Nyankopon Kwame.” (Gold Coat Akan p. 287)
